Interview with Lance: The Last Knight Blog Tour

Today I'm interviewing Lance from The Last Knight *Swoon* If you read this story, you'll know why he is crush worthy. But here's a taste:

Sharon: How did you handle moving from one time to the next?

Lance: Well, to be honest I don’t really remember much of how it happened. I just woke up one day in this time. Didn’t even realise what had happened to begin with. Unfortunately I did have to die first...

Sharon: How did you cope with the cultural changes you faced with the time differences?

Lance: Oh boy. Now there’s a question. There are some things about this time I still can’t figure out. Like the language? I mean, come on, what’s wrong with a little formality? A little romanticism? Why do I have to tell you that you look hot when I can tell you that you are the fairest to ever grace the court, that beside you all women are but pale shadows of beauty?

But I do like cars…

Sharon:  What's the best thing about a modern woman?

Lance: Everything. Does that answer work? Ok, if you want a proper answer I’d have to say the attitude. It took me a while to get used to it, but now I love it. Considering who I am, I always thought I’d want a damsel in distress to save, someone to protect. But the best thing about modern women is that you girls don’t want a knight in shining armour. You can take care of yourselves. You’re, to use a modern phrase, kick-ass. You fight your own battles and you make your own choices. And that is pretty damn sexy.

Sharon:  What do you miss about your time?

Lance: Always knowing if I’m doing the right thing or not. In my time the code of honour and chivalry is always so perfectly defined that it’s easy to know if you’re acting in the right way. Here I feel like I’m muddling through and figuring things out all over again. I’ll defend Cara, thinking I’m doing the right thing and she’ll get angry about it, telling me I’m fighting her battles for her. It’s confusing. My time was a simpler time – the line between right and wrong was far more clearly defined.

Sharon:  How have you coped with the way you’re portrayed in most stories about you?

Lance: I haven’t coped with it. Not really. It still hurts when I hear stories about what I did or didn’t do. But the truth is, I try not to think about it. The people I care about know the truth. They know that I never really betrayed the people closest to me. Besides, I’m lucky. I’ve been given a second chance. I get to make amends for the mistakes I made in my last life. Not many people get that chance. And Cara knows the truth. To be honest that’s all that matters to me.

Sharon:  What does it mean to you to have a love that crosses centuries?

Lance: It’s hard to describe. It’s not been easy that’s for sure. But she’s the most important thing in the world to me. The simple fact is when you love someone it doesn’t matter if it’s ten years or a thousand years – you never stop loving them. I know that it doesn’t matter if it’s time, or distance, or magic that’s separating us – we will always find our way back to each other.

Sharon:  Can good always triumph over evil?

Lance: Yes. I honestly believe that. Not always straight away, but if you believe in doing the right thing, and you keep fighting for it, no matter what, then eventually you will succeed. Good will win out. The important thing is to never give up. I served a king who had an incredible vision of the future, who believed in all men being equal, in a world of peace. He never lived to see it come to pass, but the ideals he believed in have lived on and if enough people fight for them one day that future will come to pass.

About The Last Knight

Seventeen-year-old Cara Page Knows what mark she's going to get on her English test next week. She knows in three days her history teacher is going to be late because his car broke down. She knows she's going to give the new boy a nose bleed on his first day.

She knows because every night she dreams of the future, and every day those dreams come true.

Now she's dreaming of a boy, and a future that can't be real. Because if it is, then everything she thought was myth and legend is actually true, and there is an evil coming that will tear the country apart.

Lance Filwer is a boy with secrets of his own, and a past full of mistakes he can't undo. Cara is his second chance, his chance to succeed where he failed before - if only she'll trust him enough to let him help her.

Cara needs to know what's happening, but the answer lies in a long forgotten past, and an ancient legend. To find it Cara will have to travel into the depths of Wales, and the heart of ancient Britain.

With Wraiths, creatures from the darkest of myths, dogging her every move, Cara knows it's only a matter of time before they catch up with her. And myth or not, they will kill her.

Her only hope is Lance, and the birth right she must claim, if she is to prevent the future she has foreseen.
